Not many people can say that they got married at the place they work, but I can. On June 24, 2017 I tied the knot with my love at Mohawk Falls, an idyllic wedding venue in Colebrook, NH. I also happen to be the Event Coordinator at the venue and have helped to grow the business since it was established in the summer of 2016. Therefore, it was unique, as I knew everything there was to know “behind-the-scenes” at the venue, which allowed me to fully customize everything for my once-in-a-lifetime event. Though, this came with its added stressors, too, as I knew this was the first wedding we held at the venue since a bar was added! If a different bride had been in my shoes, she might not have wanted her wedding to be the “test drive” event.
It did come with some hiccups, but really only I knew when something wasn’t going as planned. I was willing to take that risk for the good of the business, to help it grow and make future weddings have no kinks to work out. We’ve since held 10 weddings at the venue along with a multitude of other events, and things run like clockwork now! Everyone raves about the beautiful setting, which features a post and beam pavilion for receptions, and two options for ceremonies or photo opps: a pond-side gazebo or a lawn with a waterfall and covered bridge in the background. We chose the gazebo for our ceremony, and in front of the waterfall for pictures of us.
It’s a naturally beautiful place, with about 8 acres of manicured lawns and gardens, woodlands and waterways. And the craftsmanship of the pavilion is absolutely breath-taking. We danced all night long, probably the highlight of our wedding!
We hired an outside caterer to provide an Italian buffet, which was spot-on. The weather even cooperated, with it pouring buckets the day before the wedding, but clearing up just in time. It always seems to work out! All in all we couldn’t have asked for a better wedding at Mohawk Falls, and I am so glad that I get to share my experience and knowledge from growing up in the area to help our clients plan their special day. I may be biased, but I’d recommend this venue to anyone looking for a rustic-chic, outdoorsy wedding venue, with so many options for customization.
